Representation

Similarly to the identity portion of superman’s analysis, there is a great deal of representation in superman’s stories and actions. Superman is known for serving society with a “needs of the many” approach, as well as showing mercy to even the evilest of all evils. In Action Comics he represents even more as well. Superman represented the “american dream”. Being the last lone survivor of his home planet krypton, he arrives at earth to keep his race alive. This parallels with immphoto_7igrants where it was not uncommon for children to be separated from their parents coming into New York. This sense of both adventure and uncertainty (Petty 2006). The main enemies early on was of course the axis powers in world war two however by the end of the war the powers of the heroes that fought the defeated Hitler and his axis were too much to combat average crime (Petty 2006).
